Issue 9: Struggling vs. Scaling: 3 Habits That Make the Difference
I started in online marketing around 2003-ish.
I came online to learn how to generate leads who WANTED what I was selling -- instead of reaching out to cold leads or old friends.
It worked.
It was easier to find people online, send them to an optin page, and build an email list than calling my friends from high school and asking them to buy something.
After 20 years of watching marketers, buying training, getting coaching, helping growing 7 figure businesses, seeing behind the scenes…
I noticed 3 things make the biggest difference in who succeeds and who doesn’t.
They are:
Consistency
Focus
Urgency
Let me explain how they relate to getting you to 6-figures and beyond.
#1 - Consistency
I know we all hate hearing this one.
But it’s undeniable.
The people who make consistent income and grow an online business, show 👏🏼 up 👏🏼 every 👏🏼 day.
Let’s be real - this applies to businesses — and JOBS!
What if you took a week off of work when you felt like it?
What if you didn’t show up next Tuesday? FIRED.
You have to show up for your business like you show up for your job — consistently.
You don’t have to do your hair or even get dressed, thanks to the internet.
You don’t have to work from 9-5, or show up at a certain time.
But you have to show up and do something. Almost every day.
Think about it like this.
In the beginning of your business, you have to show up at least as many days as you show up for a job.
At least 5 days a week.
This means posting, sharing your product or freebie, selling, doing some kind of marketing.
(Juicy tip: As your business grows, you can take more time off). 🏝️🍹
#2 - Focus
…Which leads us to focus.
Know what you’re selling. Sell it every day.
Don’t go off on a tangent!
If you sell a product helping people figure out their medical bills, don’t start posting about your golden retriever.
There is nuance here.
You are a PERSONAL BRAND.
You will share more of your life and behind the scenes than a business like Pepsi.
But it should all be in relation to your customer.
Your digital products business makes money helping and serving your customers - not from your personal life.
You can share about your golden retriever if it relates to helping your customer figure out their medical bills.
The more focused you are on your customers, the faster your business will grow.
#3 - Urgency
A business makes money. (it should)
A business gets profitable asap. (it should)
The leaders in online marketing who make money - and are still around 10 years later - are profitable.
Making money isn’t a “someday” thing.
It’s a “this month” thing.
How fast can you make money?
How fast can you create your product and launch it?
How fast can you make 100 posts on Instagram to test it?
How fast can you tweak and adjust your marketing to find your best clients?
That’s how you make money, and keep making money, for decades -
Having a business you love
Doing work that you love
Working on your own schedule… from home, with your kids
And never go back to a boss who tells you when to show up and what to work on that day.
Here’s the best part…
You don’t have to be perfect!
Do it messy. Do it sloppy. Do it imperfectly.
If you show up with passion, and do these 3 things, you’ll be in the top 1%.
Succeeding in business doesn’t take perfection.
It takes a willingness to try and a willingness to fail sometimes.

Which one is your biggest challenge?
See you next Friday!
