Issue 10: Pick ONE Problem
Let’s talk about the one thing most people skip when they’re making digital products.
It’s not tech.
Not design.
Not even marketing (even though I love a solid sales plan).
It’s the idea.
Yep, your product idea is where the money is made... or lost.
If your idea’s off, Canva magic and viral reels won't save it.
Here's why your idea matters more than anything else — and how to come up with one that’s clear, helpful, and super sellable.
Why Most Digital Products Flop (Even If They’re “Pretty”)
I’ve seen too many moms pour hours on ebooks, templates, or courses that look amazing… but don’t sell.
Not because they’re not smart.
Not because the content sucks.
But because the product either tries to do too much—or solves a problem no one really cares about.
Here’s the rule I tell my clients:
Solve one problem, for one person, with one solution.
That’s it.
If your product tries to do everything, it ends up doing nothing well.
Clarity > Cute
The best product ideas are:
✔️ Specific
✔️ Easy to explain
✔️ Easy to implement
✔️ Easy to get a result from
Let me show you what I mean with two examples.
❌ Unclear Idea: “How To Be a Confident Mom”
Ok... But...
Who is buying this?
What’s the problem it solves?
Is it for new moms? Moms of teens?
Moms with anxiety?
Moms in a new career?
The idea is too broad. People don’t see THEMSELVES in it.
✨ Clear Idea: “The 3-Step Sleep Plan for Newborns Who Wake Up Every Hour”
That’s a clear problem. A very specific person. And a focused solution.
Someone with a baby who isn’t sleeping sees this and says, “TAKE MY MONEY.”
Your Digital Product Should Be Like a Painkiller
When people are in pain, they don’t want a giant workbook. They want a fix. (fast)
Even if your product takes time to go through, the promise should feel quick and powerful.
Ask yourself:
What problem am I solving?
Who’s this actually for?
What result will they get?
Can they get a small win fast?
Don’t Know Where to Start? Try This:
Ask yourself:
What do people ask me for help with all the time?
What have I figured out that others still struggle with?
What could I walk someone through in a 15-minute voice note?
That’s your gold. 🦄
Now shrink it down to the simplest version you could sell.
That’s your product.
Real Moms, Real Results
Chantel Mila
Chantel is a mom who started posting cleaning tips on TikTok and Instagram. She turned her cleaning routines into a PDF and made thousands in passive income from it. Just a simple $20 guide — no course, no huge funnel. Just the “solve one problem” energy.
Gillian Perkins
Started selling a small business planning workbook for beginners — then turned that into multiple digital products. She’s a mom of 4, homeschools, and is a great example of building a digital product biz that works around a busy mom life.
Kari Baxter
I sold simple digital products - pdf guides, workshops, and short courses while my kids were in school that brought in passive sales for years.
None of us created giant courses or 100-page workbooks. We solved one problem.
